Not Only…

…Did I get money to buy books for myself from my parents, but Mum Mum’s mum was extremely kind and ordered The Complete Calvin and Hobbes Collection for me!

The book arrived one afternoon and I was called out to open the gate and get the package in… It was from B&N and addressed to me… my automatic reaction was ‘I don’t remember ordering anything from B&N‘ which funnily enough my mum did not believe… must have thought my memory was starting to go! Anyway… WHOAH… what a nice present!

Team Effort…

So my parents were very kind in giving me a gift certificate for Borders Books & Music, which, if you know me, is a dangerous thing. Over lunch today I go shopping, and upon my return, Professor Higgins was kind enough to inspect the books to make sure they were appropriate (he is not sure about the Laurell K. Hamilton book, but as it is my birthday, he let that one slide).

Higgins and Charlie also then insisted on helping me catalogue the books (yes, I have gotten seriously geeky about my books, and I have a piece of software to catalogue all my books… and it came with a barcode scanner… how cool is that?).

More details to follow on each book in the Future Books section of the site!

Sunday Drivers… and just plain ‘tupid ones…

So Mum Mum and I took a drive up to Austin this weekend to celebrate Anne’s birthday (Anne’s birthday was Wednesday, Mum Mum’s brothers was Saturday and mine is today… Look at all these Leo’s!). Drive up was almost completely calm except for an idiot towing a boat who decided to overtake just as I was coming up in the outside lane.

On our way to the Umlauf Sculpture Gardens (which are well worth a visit if you are ever in Austin) we are driving along on the highway. Traffic slows down as everyone is rubbernecking at an accident which had just taken place… Couple of hundred yards further down the highway this stupid woman decides to change lanes, not looking just moving, not realising that I was in the lane she was moving into. I slam on the brakes, hold my hand on the horn then move lanes and pull up beside her… and sure enough her friend/boy friend/husband/sacrificial lamb… was all apologetic… as he should be… That bitch should never be allowed to step behind the wheel of a car if she is always or regularly, heck even infrequently, like that when she drives.

On the way home on Sunday the overall driving style was 100% more aggresive than it had been on the drive up. Oh, and the drivers in Austin overall are idiots (certain exceptions aside of course! 😀 )

P.S. I still managed to average around 35 mpg in my BMW… took around 1/2 a tank for the trip up the driving in Austin and the trip back! 🙂 I Like me Beemer!!!

Hmmmm… Interesting…

Not quite sure how they plan on rebuilding a large chunk of the decking area, but here are the designs for the balconies in question…

The more and more I look at it, the more confused I get, mainly because I cannot quite see how it applies to my unit… I cannot match the blueprints from this picture to the official blueprints I have seen (and posted) and to what I have actually walked on and around! Will keep posting with new information as I get it!

How scary must that be…

http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/07/23/indiana.shootings.ap/index.html

One shot struck a southbound pickup on Interstate 65 shortly after midnight, killing one of its two passengers, police said. At about the same time, a bullet grazed the head of a passenger in another southbound pickup on the same highway..

You gotta feel sorry for the person/people killed, but imagine driving along and suddenly being grazed by a bullet! Scary as hell if you ask me!

Colour Selections…

Went to make the colour selections for the condo (again!), and was disappointed by the selection that they have, especially with the cabinets. They only had 3 choices, although they may get some in. Most colours selected, except the cabinets as I will wait to see if they get more choices in.

Updates to come, especially an update on the floorplan itself as the Marketing Director walked all the units earlier this week and is in contact with the developer with regards to the issues I brought up in a previous post.

To be honest, I had trouble getting motivated to make the colour selections, and I am really just thinking about flipping the condo before I close on it, making less money than if I bought and resold a year or so later… but I am tired of all the crap with them!

So Tiger cards an 18 under par to win…

… shame I could not even get a fraction of that skill! 🙂 Although no practice and little playing time would account for some of that.

Played at Hermann Park on Saturday, and apart from the awful playing from myself, the other groups on that sourse just pissed me off… trying to play balls which they knew were not their own. Attacking greens over the top of another tee-box while people are there. Not calling out four when almost braining people. Not watching where other people are and so wandering out into the wrong fairway! ARGHHHHH… annoying! Managed to get in under 100… scoring somewhere in the mid 90’s.

Today we played at Wildcat (Highlands course). Between most shots I was checking the golf scores on my PDA! Game was completely up and down. I bought a new 5 wood after my round at Hermann… and took it onto the course without any practice… and it showed! A complete inability to hit a Fairway Wood off the fairway makes for a tough day. I did get a couple of great hits off the tee with it (managing at somepoint to hit a drive over 250 yards with it… was actually closer to 270… must have gotten a good bounce or 5!). Opening 9 was a 53… with several 3 triple bogey’s… and maybe a quadruple (can’t quite remember). Back nine was a little better, with several par’s to brighten the day, but the triples and quadruples really messed that up too! I did just squeeze in under 100 (99!). Next week I am off to Austin, so no golf… and in training most of the week, so no practice is likely! Oh well… guess I won’t be joining the tour anytime soon!
